Item no.: WSN 1503
If you, like so many others, want to get your hands on a "Black and Blue" (or "Bruiser" or "Batman"), then HURRY! Because examples of this highly sought-after model are still challenging to get hold of and usually sell pretty quickly!
So to be clear, we have a Rolex 'GMT-Master II' with model reference number 116710BLNR which was new in Feb 2018, comes with its box and papers and is in excellent condition.
Reassuringly, as a "green-seal" Rolex, the proper functioning of this watch is guaranteed by Rolex for a period of 5 years from the date of its original purchase (17th Feb 2018). It therefore remains within this guarantee until 16th Feb 2023! How's that for peace of mind?
If you've read this far, then I suspect you already know that the 'BLNR' in the model number of this item stands for "bleu noir", French for "blue black". It is of course the colours of this Rolex Professional watch's ceramic bezel insert which have prompted the above nicknames.
Here are some additional details of this highly sought-after, high-status watch model:
The 40 mm Oyster Perpetual case and the bracelet of this model are fashioned from 904L stainless steel, a very corrosion-resistant grade (the corrosion resistance of stainless steel varies enormously), and a grade of stainless which also, very importantly, lends itself to a nice surface finish.
About that bezel
The bidirectionally-rotatable bezel features a 24-hour graduated insert made of 'Cerachrom'. This is an ultra-hard ceramic which confers the following benefits: it is anti-corrosion, virtually scratchproof, and its black and blue colours, which have prompted affectionate nicknames for this model such as "Batman" and (perhaps more amusingly) "Bruiser", are unaffected by sunlight.
Together, these benefits mean your watch is likely to continue looking like new for much, much longer... which of course helps to protect its value over the longer term. (Take it from us: the bezel is the part of a watch which tends to be particularly susceptible to damage by knocks and bumps, etc.)
The inscriptions on the bezel are engraved into the ceramic insert and are subsequently coloured by deposition of pure platinum.
100 m (330 ft), aided by the screw-down winding crown and its 'Triplock' triple waterproofness design.
Movement and timekeeping functions
The auto mechanical Rolex calibre 3186 inside this watch is, of course, a COSC-certified Swiss chronometer, and features centre hour, minute and seconds hands, GMT function with 24-hr display (second time zone with independent rapid-setting of the hour hand), instantaneous date change at midnight and stop-seconds to enable precise time setting.
This recent model also benefits from a paramagnetic blue 'Parachrom' hairspring, a modern horological innovation unique to Rolex which improves the movement's accuracy in the face of shocks and changes in temperature.
Bracelet and clasp
The bracelet is Rolex's 'Oyster' design, formed of flat three-piece links and joined by a folding Oysterlock safety clasp & Easylink 5 mm comfort extension link. The inner link pieces of the bracelet are finished to a high polish, and are framed by the outer links pieces with their contrasting 'satin' finish. This combination of finishes is really very smart indeed, and is one of those more subtle design details that tends to be reserved for the higher-end models in the Rolex family.
Our price for this excellent-condition 2018 "bleu noir", complete with its box and papers, is £12,950 fully inclusive.
But your cash outlay could of course be a lot less than this if you own another Swiss watch that you're willing to trade in, because we'd be happy to consider such item(s) in part exchange. In fact, this is usually the way to get the very best deal with us. (If you might want to trade in an existing Swiss-brand watch, please bring that along to the shop, together with its box and all its booklets/papers, and anything else that goes with it, plus some photo ID.)
In order to make the relatively rarified world of Rolex watches more accesible, we can now also offer 12 months of interest-free credit for upto 90% of the purchase price, subject to acceptance. (This would be processed in the shop — please call the shop to make an appointment with us if you intend to apply for such finance.)
