Item No.: WSN 1393
If you want a watch that makes a statement, one that turns heads, then consider this one!
On the one hand, it's beautifully BIG and CHUNKY! On the other, it's a classy affair with all the refinements you'd expect from Cartier.
This is a "SANTOS 100 XL" chronograph with model reference number 2740. It was new in 2010, comes with its box and books/papers, and is in very good condition.
Let's first address its size: it measures 41mm wide (excluding the crown and push buttons) by 55mm long including the strap-attachment lugs (or 40mm long excluding the lugs). And it's approx 14.5 mm thick. But it's the near uniform, and 'rectangular' thickness that gives this watch a uniquely "chunky" and weighty feel to it, something that can only be appreciated by actually holding the watch. The watch case is curved, however, so that it does suit wrists that are smaller than its size might suggest.
The next aspects of this watch which (at least to me) really stand out when holding it in the hand are the following four aesthetic features, which—when taken all together—look just FANTASTIC: and they are (i) the polished square bezel (screwed down), which contrasts nicely with (ii) the fine, 'satin' brushed finish of the chunky case, (iii) that rich brown leather (Cartier) strap, and (iv) that classic Cartier dial, with its signature black Roman numerals and distinctive hands. The dial is silver, and succeeds in looking 'technical' (with those three subsidiary dials) without being too 'busy'.
In short, this is a stunning-looking, impression-making watch with bags of class and refinement.
The chronograph, powered by an automatic movement inside, presents a centre second hand in addition to 30-minute and 12-hour totalizers. The continuous second hand is in the small sub-dial at the IX o'clock position. There's also a date indicator between the IV and the V o'clock positions.
The watch has a water resistance spec., of 100m (330 ft).
The leather strap is closed with a neat stainless-steel, double-folding, push-button-release deployant clasp.
Our Price and Guarantee
This rather imposing watch makes a great impression immediately on sight, with an 'expensive-watch' look that punches way above its current price. And you could be the lucky person who gets to benefit from its image-boosting powers for just £4,750 fully inclusive!
But your outlay could be even less than this, because we may also consider your old (Swiss) watch in part exchange if you have one. (If there's any possibility you might like to do a part-exchange deal when you visit us, please bring your watch in with its box and papers if you still have them, together with some photo ID.)
Note that we can also offer 12 months of interest-free credit, subject to acceptance. (This would be arranged on our premises.)
For your peace of mind, we will guarantee this watch for a full 12 months from the date of your purchase. That guarantee is underpinned by the well-equipped watch-repair and jewellery workshop that we have on-site, which is manned by highly experienced technicians who take great pride in the intricate work that they do on high-end Swiss watches. In addition, for any of those rarer, more specialist jobs that might occasionally be required, we have access to original parts and brand-specialist technicians in our network. All in all, rest assured that we have a lot of experience in supporting the brands that you see here on the website.

There really is no better way to check out a watch that you might be interested in owning than to come and take a closer look at it. Inspect it, handle it, try it on for size and ask us about it! Of course, while you're here, you might also wish to browse our large collection of other watches. Here, you're typically able to browse around one hundred and fifty or so pre-owned Swiss watches that we have out on display, each of which has been carefully selected, based on its condition, from among the many more watches that we see and handle every day. (To a large extent, that's in effect what we do: we 'filter' pre-owned watches. Only the very best of what we buy in or receive in part exchange deals make it onto our display shelves and onto this website, and this Cartier is a great example of those efforts. The rest are sold on, for example to smaller dealers in the trade.)
With that many prime-condition, pre-owned Swiss watches to choose from, we probably offer you THE BEST chance in the region of being able to find your next, or indeed your first, watch of the sort of calibre and in the sort of condition that you surely deserve; you know, one of those purchases that leaves you feeling really pleased with your choise for many years.
