Item no.: WSN 1316
This IWC "PORTUGIESER F. A. JONES" has model reference number 5442 (IW544201), and is a limited edition (no., 132 out of only 1000 made in 18-carat gold, as stamped on the casing) in honour of F. A. Jones, the founder of International Watch Company (IWC).
This model houses the IWC-manufactured Jones 98290 calibre, a manually-wound movement developed in the early 'noughties', but inspired by and incorporating features that were in the original Jones movements made for pocket watches back in the late 19th century. (All of this is detailed in the book about F. A. Jones that accompanies the watch.)
And that movement can be studied and appreciated via the wonderfully big display window in the back of the case, as you can see in one of the accompanying photos. This sapphire window reveals what is a wonderfully intricate, high-precision mechanism which has been specially engraved and decorated. The movement has 19 jewels for bearings, and has a power reserve when fully wound of around 46 hours.
This is a 43mm-diameter watch which was new in 2006, it comes with its large presentation case and all its papers/books, and is in very good to excellent condition. The pin buckle of the leather IWC strap is, like the watch case and winding crown, made from 18-ct gold. The gold is a rose gold, although some might argue that it comes somewhere between a rose and a yellow gold, but is 18-carat regardless and looks fantastic against its rich, chestnut brown strap.
The Arabic numerals on the large, clear dial are painted in a rose-gold colour to match the hands, and the dial is protected by a gently domed, anti-reflective-coated, extremely-hard sapphire glass.
The watch also comes with a second/spare leather strap.

The accompanying photos are of the actual item that we have for sale. Despite that, we would of course always suggest you call into our shop if you can: we think it'd even be worth a special trip into Manchester!
After all, there really is no better way to check out a watch that you might be interested in owning than to come and take a closer look at it. Inspect it, handle it, try it on for size and ask us about it! Of course, while you're here, you can browse our large collection of other superlative-condition famous Swiss brand watches. In any case, not only would you be very welcome, but you'll also be in the heart of Manchester's shopping district (we're located just off St Ann's Square) and there are plenty of places nearby to enjoy a coffee too, so why not plan a visit soon?
Here, you're typically able to browse around one hundred and fifty pre-owned Swiss watches that we have out on display, each of which has been carefully selected, based on its condition, from among the many more watches that we see and handle every day. (To a large extent, that's in effect what we do: we 'filter' pre-owned watches. Only the very best of what we buy in or receive in part exchange deals make it onto our display shelves and onto this website, and this particular item is a fantastic example of such standards. The rest are sold on: for example, to smaller dealers in the trade.)
The result is that we probably have the best collection of pre-owned Swiss watches in such prime-condition in the region! You can take advantage of that fact to make it much easier for you to find your next (or perhaps your first) watch that's in the sort of condition that you really want, a watch that delights you: one of those purchases that leaves you feeling completely satisfied that you've chosen well and that gives you pleasure for months and years ahead.
